Editing is an arrogant and intrusive act. But when a writer finds an editor who wants the writer to truly discover the depth of his or her own storytelling ability and does not impose his own agenda on the book, the editor-author relationship can become a richly rewarding experience. This is what I bring to the table. A good editor knows to stand firm but not be unyielding, to challenge without condescending, and most importantly, to recognize their own biases and be willing to grow and learn through the process as well.
My freelance editing services are available for publishers and contracted authors. (If you are an individual looking for editorial work on your own manuscript, see
my mentoring services.) I offer content edit and line editing services in both fiction and non-fiction. You can count on my work to be on time and to reflect my dedication to the craft of writing and the intent of the author. With over 60 content edits and line edits and over 50 titles acquired as an in-house acquisitions editor, I will be an experienced, professional voice in the production of your book.
Andy Meisenheimer is a forward-thinking editor with a keen sense for quality writing. I partnered with him on many projects, both fiction and nonfiction, and was always impressed by his understanding of the market and his ability to relate with a diverse group of authors. His editorial style is sharp and insightful, respectful of the author's unique voice and committed to helping it come through in the best way.
